1. Service Description

BidWatch is a free auction tracking tool available at bidwatch.net. It uses the official eBay API (via the eBay Developer Programme) to display item data such as prices, bid counts, and end times. BidWatch is an independent tool and is not endorsed by eBay Inc. BidWatch may send web push notifications for price changes, auction time warnings, and auction-ended alerts if you opt in via the app's notification settings. BidWatch may introduce additional features, services, or subscription options in the future; any such changes will be reflected in updated terms.

2. Data Processing

BidWatch respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your data.

Data stored locally: Your auction watchlist, settings, and preferences are stored in your browser using local storage. This data never leaves your device unless you choose to export it.

Data sent externally: When you add or refresh a listing, the eBay item ID is sent to our API server (hosted on Cloudflare Workers) which queries the official eBay Browse API. Our server may temporarily cache publicly available eBay listing data (such as titles, prices, bid counts, and images) to improve performance and reduce API usage. Items not actively tracked are removed from the refresh cycle within one hour. Cached listing data may persist for up to 7 days before automatic expiry. This cached data contains no personal information. No personal data, IP addresses, browsing history, or user-identifiable information is collected or stored on our servers.

Push notifications: If you enable push notifications, we store a browser-generated subscription URL and your tracked item IDs on our server so we can send you alerts. This data is deleted when you unsubscribe.

Your local laws: Applicable local privacy and data protection laws may grant you additional rights regarding your data. Visit our legal page to view terms tailored to your region (EU, UK, USA, Canada, Australia).

3. Third-Party Services

BidWatch uses the following third-party services:

• eBay Browse API - To fetch auction item details. Subject to eBay's API Terms of Use.
• Cloudflare Workers - To securely proxy API requests. Subject to Cloudflare's Terms of Service.
• Google Fonts - To load web fonts for the interface.
• Google AdSense - To display advertisements that fund the service. May use cookies for ad delivery and personalisation, subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

4. Disclaimer

This tool is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law. The creator is not responsible for missed bids, incorrect timing, financial losses, or any other issues arising from use of this tool. Always verify auction details directly on eBay before placing bids.

All listing data displayed in BidWatch is provided directly by eBay through the official eBay API. If any data appears incorrect, this is an issue with the data provided by eBay, not BidWatch.

5. Intellectual Property

"eBay" is a registered trademark of eBay Inc. All eBay item data displayed in BidWatch is sourced from eBay via their official API and remains the property of eBay Inc. and respective sellers.

6. Age Requirement

You must be at least 13 years old to use BidWatch, or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher. If you are below the applicable age, you must have parental or guardian consent.

7. Changes

These terms may be updated from time to time. Continued use of BidWatch after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Privacy Policy

1. What Data We Collect

BidWatch stores the following data locally in your browser using local storage:

• Your auction watchlist (eBay item IDs, cached listing data)
• App settings and preferences (theme, language, sound toggles, etc.)
• TOS acceptance status and timestamp

This data never leaves your device unless you choose to export it using the in-app export feature.

2. What Data Is Sent Externally

When you add or refresh a listing, the eBay item ID is sent to our API server (hosted on Cloudflare Workers) which queries the official eBay Browse API.

Server-side caching: Our server may temporarily cache publicly available eBay listing data to improve performance and reduce API usage. Items not actively tracked are removed from the refresh cycle within one hour. Cached listing data may persist for up to 7 days before automatic expiry. This cached data contains no personal or user-identifiable information.

Push notifications: If you turn on push notifications, we store a browser-generated subscription URL and your tracked item IDs on our server so we can send you alerts. This data is deleted when you unsubscribe.

We do not collect, store, or log:

• Personal information or account details
• IP addresses or browsing history
• Device fingerprints or identifiers
• Any personal data beyond the eBay item ID needed to fetch listing information

3. Cookies & Local Storage

BidWatch uses your browser's local storage to save your settings and auction data locally. Google AdSense, which serves advertisements to fund the service, may use cookies for ad delivery and personalisation. In regions where required by law, a consent dialog will be presented allowing you to accept or refuse advertising cookies. No third-party analytics services are integrated.

4. Your Rights

Since all data is stored locally in your browser, you always have the ability to:

• Access your data - all data is stored locally and fully accessible to you at all times.
• Correct your data - you can edit your settings and watchlist directly within the app.
• Delete your data - you can clear all BidWatch data by clearing your browser's local storage.
• Export your data - use the in-app export feature to download a copy of your data as a JSON file.

No account or registration is required. Our servers only cache publicly available eBay listing data temporarily for performance purposes. No personal or user-identifiable data is stored on our servers, with the exception of push notification subscription data if you opt in (which is deleted when you unsubscribe).

5. Data Retention

All user data is stored locally in your browser and is fully under your control. Data persists in your browser until you clear it manually or clear your browser data. If you enable push notifications, subscription data is retained on our server until you unsubscribe.

6. Children's Privacy

You must be at least 13 years old to use BidWatch, or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher. If you are below the applicable age, parental or guardian consent is required.

7. Changes to This Policy

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. Continued use of BidWatch after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
